XL710-QDA2, non-Intel QSFP+ 케이블에서 Rx/Tx 비활성화: i40e에 "unsupported SFP+ module type"
Intel XL710-QDA2 듀얼포트 40GbE 어댑터용으로 Ubuntu 16.04에서 i40e 3.4.2를 빌드해서 로드했다. 드라이버는 잘 로드됐는데, non-Intel QSFP+ 케이블을 연결하자마자 dmesg에 "Rx/Tx is disabled on this device because an unsupported SFP+ module type was detected."가 찍히고 링크가 안 올라왔다. non-Intel QSFP+ 케이블은 그냥 호환이 안 되는 건지, 지원되지 않는 모듈을 허용할 방법이 있는지 물었다. 몇 달 뒤 두 번째 사용자가 Ubuntu 16.04(커널 4.4.0-138-generic), i40e 2.4.10, 펌웨어 6.01 0x800034a4 1.1747.0에서 동일한 증상을 보고했다. ethtool은 "Link detected: no"에 speed와 duplex가 unknown으로 나왔고, dmesg에는 "Refer to the Intel(R) Ethernet Adapters and Devices User Guide for a list of supported modules."가 추가로 찍혔다.
