Catalyst C9300X-24Y reset FEC ke auto saat DAC SFP-H25G-CU2M dipasang, memutus link ke FortiGate
Penulis menyambungkan Cisco Catalyst C9300X-24Y ke firewall FortiGate dengan DAC 25G SFP-H25G-CU2M. Setiap kali DAC-nya dipasang, switch-nya mencatat log '%PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_INSERTED: SFP module inserted with interface name Twe1/0/23' diikuti '%PLATFORM_PM-6-DIFFERENT_MODULE_INSERTED: Warning: SFP module inserted in to the interface Twe1/0/23 differs from the previously inserted one. The port's fec configuration will be set to the default.' Setting FEC-nya balik ke auto, yang tidak didukung FortiGate, jadi link-nya tidak pernah naik. Kedua perangkat sudah dikonfirmasi mampu 25G dengan loop dua port miliknya sendiri memakai tipe kabel yang sama; cuma kombinasi cross-vendor ini yang gagal.

Model switch dan versi software-nya persisnya apa? Di port multi-gigabit yang mendukung beberapa tipe modul, warning itu sebenarnya bisa memang normal terjadi. FortiGate-nya sendiri support 25G tidak? Coba juga modul SFP 10G - itu akan membuktikan masalahnya bukan soal kompatibilitas DAC dengan Fortinet.
SFP-H25G-CU2M-nya benar-benar dari Cisco? Kabel non-Cisco bisa jadi penyebabnya. Negosiasi FEC itu bagian dari pertukaran auto-negotiation port, jadi coba 'no negotiation auto' di Twe1/0/23 lalu hard-code parameter port-nya.
