HP A5500-HI IRF stack logs unsupported transceivers for HP-supplied J9281B DACs to Gen8 servers
4
Four HP A5500-HI switches in an IRF stack logged unsupported transceiver messages for six rear-module (JD368B) ports that were cabled with HP J9281B SFP+ DACs to ProLiant Gen8 servers with 530SFP+ NICs. display transceiver interface showed Transceiver Type STACK_SFP_PLUS, Connector COPPER, Vendor Name Tyco Electronics. The whole solution had been specified and sold by HP, so the poster was upset that the cables were flagged; the switches ran an old Comware 5.20 R5101P01 and the poster also could not get guidance on ISSU upgrades.

Update the very old Comware release first; newer software recognises more transceivers and PSUs.
An HPE employee stated the JD368B module and DACs are compatible per the accessories list, recommended updating to a release that supports ISSU (5203 and later), and pointed to the release notes compatibility matrix.
The poster concluded the ProVision-family J9281B DACs were the wrong part for a Comware switch (JD095C/JD096C/JD097C class cables are the Comware equivalents) and pursued replacement through the reseller.
