Diverse schede ConnectX-3 non accendono mai i transceiver ottici ma funzionano con i DAC
Le schede Mellanox ConnectX-3 MCX314A-BCBT e MCX354A-FCB (firmware 2.42.5000, driver 5.50.14740.1) venivano rilevate in Windows 11 e Ubuntu 22.10, ma nessun transceiver ottico emetteva mai luce: sono stati provati Cisco QSFP-40G-SR-BD, Cisco SFP-10G-SR e Mellanox MFM1T02A-SR su LC-LC OM3, su tre schede madri, diversi slot PCIe ed entrambe le modalità porta IB ed Ethernet, con il firmware riflashato. I DAC in rame funzionavano normalmente sulle stesse schede.

I suggerimenti coprivano la conferma dell'ultimo firmware, evitare ottiche vincolate a Cisco a favore di Mellanox o generiche, verificare la modalità Ethernet contro InfiniBand e testare i DAC; il test dei DAC ha confermato che le schede funzionavano, ma le ottiche non si sono mai attivate, forse per un limite di potenza per porta (circa 1,5 W) inferiore a quanto serviva alle ottiche.
