कई ConnectX-3 cards optical transceivers पर कभी light नहीं देते पर DACs के साथ काम करते हैं
Mellanox ConnectX-3 MCX314A-BCBT और MCX354A-FCB cards (firmware 2.42.5000, driver 5.50.14740.1) Windows 11 और Ubuntu 22.10 में detect तो हुए, पर किसी भी optical transceiver से कभी light नहीं निकली: Cisco QSFP-40G-SR-BD, Cisco SFP-10G-SR और Mellanox MFM1T02A-SR को LC-LC OM3 पर, तीन motherboards, कई PCIe slots और IB व Ethernet दोनों port modes में आज़माया गया, firmware भी reflash किया गया। उन्हीं cards पर copper DACs सामान्य तरीके से काम कर गईं।

सुझावों में शामिल था नवीनतम firmware confirm करना, Cisco-locked optics की जगह Mellanox या generic optics इस्तेमाल करना, Ethernet बनाम InfiniBand mode जांचना और DACs test करना; DAC test से पक्का हुआ कि cards काम कर रहे हैं, पर optics कभी activate नहीं हुए, शायद per-port power limit (करीब 1.5 W) की वजह से जो optics को चाहिए उससे कम था।
