CWDM SFP modules को flash करना: ऐसी EEPROM images चाहिए कि Cisco switches उन्हें सही पहचानें
Thread शुरू करने वाले के पास Cisco EEPROM images (SX, LH, ZX types) का एक सेट था पर कोई CWDM images नहीं थीं, और वह चाहता था कि CWDM SFP modules Cisco switches पर CWDM/WDM optics के तौर पर दिखें, SX या LX समझकर misidentify न हों। सही image के बिना switch या तो module को unsupported बता देता था या service unsupported-transceiver इस्तेमाल करने और gbic-invalid errdisable detection बंद करने पर मजबूर कर देता था। यह thread एक लंबे चलने वाले exchange में बदल गया (दर्जनों pages, एक हज़ार से ज्यादा posts) जिसमें लोग GLC-BX-D/U और GLC-FE-100BX-D/U जैसे specific Cisco part numbers के लिए images मांगते थे, इस पर बात करते थे कि कौन-से programmers fields edit कर सकते हैं, और dumps share करते थे।

Members ने CWDM EEPROM dumps (text files) share कीं जिनसे module खुद को CWDM-1550 SFP के तौर पर identify करता है; बाकी models के लिए TX, SX, LH और ZX dumps भी post की गईं।
editor वाला एक programmer आपको serial number और description fields बदलने और checksums दोबारा calculate करने देता है, पर ये tools suppliers से खरीदे गए थे और details share नहीं की गईं।
GLC-BX-D/U और 100BX images के लिए requests thread के पहले pages पर खुली ही रहीं।
