Meraki MX95 WAN2 SFP will not link to an Extreme switch (but does to Netgear): power cycle after inserting the SFP
A Meraki MX95's WAN2 SFP would not link to an upstream Extreme switch, while the same SFP and patch linked to a Netgear switch, which in turn linked to the Extreme. The same happened with an MX85 against an AT&T-provided Ciena device. Cisco-certified and Extreme-certified SFPs were tried in all combinations, with ports set to static 1 Gbps and to auto on all devices.
- Hardware: Cisco Meraki MX95, Cisco Meraki MX85, Extreme switch, Netgear switch, Ciena switch
- Transceivers: Cisco-certified 1G SFP, Extreme-certified 1G SFP
- Form factor: SFP
Symptoms / messages:
no link to Extreme/Ciena upstream
works to Netgear with same optic

Match optic type (SX/SR/LR/LX) and wavelength on both ends and check part numbers; some vendors only accept approved optics.
Insert the SFP and then power-cycle the MX95: MX models with dual-personality ports only detect the port type at power-on.
