A FortiGate 500E displayed the message This port is using a third-party transceiver on an SFP+ port; the poster asked whta it meant and which SFP+ specification to use. There were no errors or link problems, only the log line, so the real question was whether it signals a fault, degrades support entitlement, or is purely cosmetic when a non-Fortinet optic is used.

It is informational, not an error; third-party modules can work. Fortinet support may refuse to help if a third-party transceiver is even remotely involved in a problem, so official Fortinet transceivers are recommended.
