Intel 82599/X520 पर 10G interface गायब: CentOS और Ubuntu पर allow_unsupported_sfp को persistently enable करना
Intel 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ controller वाले एक Linux server पर 10G interface दिखा ही नहीं, और untested SFP+ module लगाने के बाद dmesg में failed to load because an unsupported SFP+ or QSFP module type was detected आया। Article में बताया गया है कि ixgbe driver सिर्फ उन्हीं modules को enable करता है जिनके साथ वह validate किया गया है, और CentOS 7 और Ubuntu 16/17/18 पर बाकी modules को persistently enable करने का तरीका दिखाया गया है।

/etc/modprobe.d/ixgbe.conf में options ixgbe allow_unsupported_sfp=1 लिखें, initramfs regenerate करें (CentOS पर dacut --regenerate-all --force, Ubuntu/Debian पर update-initramfs -u -k all) और driver reload करें; या फिर kernel command line में ixgbe.allow_unsupported_sfp=1 add कर दें।
