On a Mellanox MSN4600C (ACS-MSN4600C) running SONiC in a T1 topology, the test test_chck_sfp_using_ethtool failed because ethtool -m sfp[ID] returned rc=1 with Cannot get module EEPROM information: No such device, i.e. the module EEPROM was not accessible on that platform during the test. Hardware involved: Mellanox MSN4600C (ACS-MSN4600C), SFP/QSFP module (unspecified).

  • Hardware: Mellanox MSN4600C (ACS-MSN4600C)
  • Transceivers: SFP/QSFP module (unspecified)
  • Form factor: SFP, QSFP

Symptoms / messages:

ethtool -m: Cannot get module EEPROM information: No such device
rc=1

Filed as an open bug (Pending Triage) with no documented workaround; the EEPROM was unavailable or not mapped on that platform at test time.
