Does 'service unsupported-transceiver' still work for third-party optics on Catalyst 9300 with IOS XE Everest?
The poster asked whether anyone had used third-party optcis in a Cisco Catalyst 9300 series switch running IOS XE Everest (16.x), and specifically whether the hidden global command 'service unsupported-transceiver', long used on older Catalyst platforms to accept non-Cisco SFPs, still functions on this platform and software. No errror message or failed module was described; it was a pre-deployment question about vendor lock on the then-new Catalyst 9300.
- Hardware: Cisco Catalyst 9300
- Transceivers: unspecified third-party SFP/SFP+
- Form factor: SFP, SFP+

I wouldn't risk third-party optics on the Catalyst 9300 yet - the IOS XE code isn't mature enough for that. I'd stick with Cisco optics for now.
