Minisforum MS-01 X710 SFP+ shows Link detected: no with a Ubiquiti SFP+ to RJ45 adapter
1
On a Minisforum MS-01 running Proxmox (i40e, kernel 6.8.12-10-pve) the X710 SFP+ port enp2s0f0np0 recognised a Ubiquiti SFP+-to-RJ45 module (ethtool listed 10G Base-SR capability) but the link never came up: Link detected: no, interface DOWN, no dmesg errors, ip link set up made no difference. Hardware involved: Minisforum MS-01, Intel X710, Ubiquiti UACC-CM-RJ45-MG (SFP+ to RJ45), FS.com Intel-coded 10G SFP+ RJ45.
- Hardware: Minisforum MS-01, Intel X710
- Transceivers: Ubiquiti UACC-CM-RJ45-MG (SFP+ to RJ45), FS.com Intel-coded 10G SFP+ RJ45
- Form factor: SFP+, DAC
Symptoms / messages:
Link detected: no

Treat it as a layer-1 problem and swap optics/cables; the poster replaced the Ubiquiti RJ45 module with a DAC and everything worked.
If an RJ45 module is required, use an Intel-coded 10G SFP+ RJ45 module (e.g. from FS.com) instead of the Ubiquiti part; the poster preferred that over driver modifications.
Other known X710 quirks on Proxmox: VLAN stripping, LLDP offload and asymmetric speeds, worked around via systemd-networkd settings.
