एक network operator को ऐसे QFX3500 switches मिले जो third-party SFP+ transceivers को up ही नहीं करते थे, जबकि एक Juniper sales engineer ने कहा था कि वो काम करेंगे। JTAC ने कहा कि non-Juniper SFP+ optics इस platform पर कभी support नहीं होंगे। switch को module की मौजूदगी का पता चल जाता था पर port कभी usable नहीं होता था। poster ने पूछा कि क्या कोई hidden workaround है, वरना hardware वापस करके कोई और vendor चुनने का plan था।

कई operators ने confirm किया कि QFX3500 non-Juniper optics को actively block करता है; कोई काम करने वाला bypass नहीं मिला।
Juniper ने कहा कि third-party DAC cables 11.3R3 से supported थे जबकि third-party optics का support अभी evaluation में था।
सुझाए गए workarounds थे Juniper EEPROM strings के साथ pre-coded optics खरीदना या FlexOptix flexBox से उन्हें recode करना, असर की पुष्टि नहीं हुई।
बस catalog में कोई ऐसा transceiver code ढूंढो जो 740- जैसा दिखे, और इस code को A0h के vendor specific area में डाल दो।
