Programming an OEM copper SFP fails silently: no A2h page, write-protect controlled by the WP pin
The poster programmed an OEM copper SFP with a 256-byte firmware dump; the switch recognised the type but the module received no data, whereas the original worked, and no password error appeared. It failed on several units. Hardware involved: OEM copper SFP (24C02 EEPROM). Reported symptoms/messages: module recognised but passes no data after write.
- Transceivers: OEM copper SFP (24C02 EEPROM)
- Form factor: SFP
Symptoms / messages:
module recognised but passes no data after write

Confirm the write completed and recalculate checksums before programming; firmware may be incompatible with the specific SFP or switch.
Copper modules have no A2h page and no password field; write protection is via the EEPROM WP pin tied to an SFP port pin. OEM copper SFPs use a plain 24C02 without an MCU, so break the transceiver power lines individually and try writing, and test TX_DISABLE/TX_FAULT lines as possible WP controls.
