Aruba 2930F: third-party DAC flaps on ports 50 and 52 but works on ports 49 and 51
0
With an Aruba 2930F connected to a server through a Stornet-branded J9283D-SN passive 3 m SFP+ DAC, port 50 dropped the link immediately after it came up and port 52 flapped with the log message FFI : Port: 52 Excessive link state transitions. The same cable worked on ports 49 and 51, and fibre with J9150D SR modules worked on all ports. The poster asked why two of the four SFP+ ports refused the DAC.

A DAC must be supported on both ends; verify the cable against the server NIC compatibility list, since switch-to-server DAC links are notoriously picky.
