The poster bought eight J9150D 10G SR SFP+ transceivers for an Aruba 5406R zl2 chassis with a J9993A module. Every module lit the orange LED and logged Unsupported Transceiver. (SelftTest Err#098000), even though the compatibility documents list this combination and the chassis had already been updated to KB.16.10.0012. The poster asked whether the module, the transceivers or the firmware was at fault.

Check authenticity: collect show tech transceivers and show logging output and validate the serial numbers through the HPE warranty/product validation service.
All eight units turned out to be non-genuine; they were returned and replaced with authentic parts, which resolved the issue.
